Have a question about PREHA? You may find the answer below. If not, please feel free to call us to ask your question.
How are we different from your regular veterinarian?PREHA is open 24 hours/365 days a year. Our staff is trained in emergency procedures and care to provide the best possible attention for your pet around the clock. The clinic has specialized equipment such as ultrasound and an oxygen therapy unit which are not usually found in veterinary practices. Our in-house laboratory and x-ray will provide comprehensive test results quickly and efficiently. There is always a veterinarian and nursing staff on site no matter what time of day or night.
How does PREHA work with your primary veterinarian? After your pet is seen at our emergency room, a detailed history of all treatments and tests done is completed by our veterinarian. This is then faxed to your veterinarian overnight so they will have the results in their office the next morning. When your pet is hospitalized with us, we work hand-in-hand with your primary veterinarian keeping their office up to date on your pet's condition. If your pet is transferred from your veterinarian's office for care with us, a copy of their records will come with them. Our staff will then be able to familiarize themselves with your pet's history.
Is the emergency clinic expensive? We work very hard at PREHA to make emergency care for your pet affordable. A written estimate is prepared for all patients being seen by us. It will be explained in detail to help you and your emergency team provide the best care plan for your pet that is economically feasible for your budget. We do have payment options available which can be viewed here. Our staff is happy to discuss these with you when you bring in your pet or on the phone.
Can I move my pet back to my regular veterinarian when they open?Yes you can. We will compile all necessary information for your veterinarian to continue with your pet's care and send that with you when you pick your pet up.
Will I need to move my pet the next morning? No. Your pet can stay with us as long as necessary. Most clients choose to leave their pets with us for the duration of their illness as we have skilled staff caring for them 24 hours a day.
Does the emergency clinic have access to my vet's records? If your regular veterinarian is open at the time your pet comes to see us, we will call and ask that records be faxed to us to provide a thorough history for treating your pet. If their office is closed, we will have to wait until the next morning to get that information.
Can I visit my pet?You are welcome to visit your pet. There may be times when you will have to wait because of an emergency being seen, your pet is having a treatment or a treatment being done on another pet. When this happens, we will try to give you an estimate of how long it will be before you and your pet can visit.
Will my pet be left alone at night? No. Your pet will be under our staff's constant supervision 24 hours a day,
Will my pet be in pain?We don't want your pet to be uncomfortable. Relieving pets from pain due to injury or trauma contributes greatly to their recovery. Each patient receives a custom care plan that takes into account his health status and specific treatment needs. The result is a reduction in any pain or discomfort experienced by your pet.
